Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to describe the image of the main female characters in the novel women who cry to the Black Moon by Dian Purnomo. The type of research used is Library Research. Design/Method/Approach - The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The Data in this study is written in words, sentences, and paragraphs, namely the novel The Woman Who Crys to the Black Moon works Dian Purnomo. The results of this study are as follows (1) Self-image of women in the form of character or the establishment of a woman who is also responsible for the potential itself as an individual being; (2) Physical image in the form of a picture of the physical or a woman's body that includes Beauty, posture, Beauty. Like the figure of magi who have physical characteristics as women who come from Indonesia East; (3) the psychic image that states that women are psychological beings that think, feel, and aspirate. Women are created with straightforward psychics carried away by feelings, also by magi who always feel sad when separated from their friends; (4) the social image of the role of women in a family environment and the community environment. In the family circle, women have a role as a child, a housewife, and a wife. Conclusion - Based on research conducted on women's novels Women who cry to the Black Moon by Dian Purnomo, the image of women in it can be concluded as follows: (1). Self-Image, (2). Physical Image, (3). Psychic Imagery, (4). Social image (in the family and society).
